Art & Soul is a design and new media company based in East Yorkshire, UK. Our staff comprises a small team of talented artists, designers and programmers with expertise in graphic design, illustration, web site and web application development.
Core business activities include corporate identity design and brand development, web site design and build, and the development of bespoke web applications. We can also provide technical and e-marketing consultancy and training, illustration, photography and printed materials.
The company was established back in 1999, so we’re no fly-by-night outfit. We do occasionally fly by the seat of our pants, but that’s how it is at the cutting edge!
In A Different League
NonLeagueNews24 has rapidly become the UK’s leading website for non-league football. The site was launched in August last year and covers the English National League System from the Blue Square Premier League down. We developed a bespoke content management system which provides the writing team with tools to publish news and match reports. The system also provides their panel of regular columnists with blogging tools. New content is automatically “tweeted” to social media site Twitter.
The site provides up to the minute fixtures and results, with a live “vidiprinter” on match days which pushes goal alerts and match updates out to the visitor’s browser in realtime. The vidiprinter functionality is based on the Meteor server, a persistent streaming HTTP (or “Comet”) server. The site consumes live data from a number of sources including XML feeds from a third party content provider, text messages from club officials via an SMS API, and manual input using the content management system.
The site currently attracts around 25,000 unique visitors a month.

Look at the web site of any graphic design or web development company and you’ll find earnest assurances of their passion and commitment to customer service. In that respect we’re all alike, but what they don’t tell you is whether they outsource the technical stuff to the lowest offshore bidder, or whether the web site they “designed” for you is based on the same set of royalty-free templates they roll out to all their clients.
At Art & Soul we design everything from scratch based on our understanding of the client’s particular need. We create our own artwork and we write our own code. We understand what we’re doing, so we don’t have to hide behind buzz-words and jargon when we explain to clients how things work, or why we recommend a particular approach. And unlike some competitors, we won’t tailor your requirement to suit our solution. Here at Art & Soul we do things very much the other way around.
